SINGER / SONGWRITER "CONTRASTS" ALBUM COVER
A little about myself. I’ll keep it short because one thing I’ve learned about the music business is that it’s all self promotion, and there certainly isn’t a shortage of same.

I grew up in the south, Southeast Arkansas, close to the Arkansas river, hence the songs “Lazy River”, “Where I’m From” and “Dancin’ Rabbit Creek”. In 1973 I left Ark. to attend Texas A&M on a football scholarship, where I studied architecture. In 1977 I was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings and played 10 years with them as offensive center. I would return to Texas as soon as the season was over and eventually finished my degree at University of North Texas, with a degree in fine arts.

So I’ve been a Texan for 35 years and some of my songs reflect that as well, like “Pastry Palace Queen”, and “He Rode Alone”.

I live in New Braunfels Texas, where I have a design business, am married with 4 boys, 2 dogs, 3 cats (wife’s), 2 birds (wife’s), 11 chickens (wife’s) and 1 wife (mine). We hang-out at Gruene Hall and I have a couple of songs that reflect that. “The Smell of Gruene Hall, and “I Broke Into Gruene Hall Late Last Night”.

I take music seriously, as it is the ultimate form of self expression and is more powerful than a painter’s brush or sculptor’s mallet and chisel, and at the same time it’s the most fun thing I’ve ever done. I hope my songs reflect that as well. More about Dennis
